Nike Employee Grant Fund

Wow, what a week! Back in November Urban Gleaners applied for a grant through the Nike Employee Grant Fund (NEGF) and last week we received a $15,000 check in the mail. It was such a nice surprise that coincided with the sunny turn in the weather. Nike awards the grant to organizations that provide services and support in the Portland Metropolitan area. The bestowal of these grants on non-profits is Nike’s way of supporting the communities in which its employees “live, work and play”.

The NEGF, which awards $550,000 annually, has a non-traditional jury committee made up of 10-12 Nike employees. Nike elects these employees to sit on the committee in order that the funding recommendations reflect the needs and wants of the greater neighborhood in which Nike, as a company, lives.
